About Me and my Blog

I have been writing since the fourth grade when a poem I wrote was published on the front page of our school newspaper. But, hey, a by-line is a by-line. I progressed and eventually earned a degree in English and journalism from Marshall University. I have had a varied career that includes teaching, construction reporting, editing a technical/environmental magazine, assisting in research and writing about Scots at the Alamo, paralegal, and lobbyist for the arts in the schools. I also have written¬†three children’s books.

I’ve taken a brief look, and like what I see, well put in more time soon. I have joined by email and hopefully you will have time to come and visit me. I am not on Facebook but would love to know more about your children books! ….RaeDi

Thank you RaeDi. I love your blog and have signed up to be one of your faithful followers. I see we are kindred spirits in many ways and I look forward to hearing more from you.

  2. Sheila,

I just want you to know that all of your efforts here are not for naught. (Geeze, I hope that you know what I’m talking about here, because I am not a writer, but I hope that
you catch my drift.) I briefly visit your blogs and can see that you are having fun as well as informing me on subjects to which I am normally not exposed. I thank you for your time and efforts to reach out to each of us who have the privilege of reading your body of work when we have those precious minutes to relax and enjoy you.

I really like receiving your e-mails and though I don’t participate in Facebook, as I
don’t have the time to do so–I always smile when I see your name in my incoming e-mail page.

Keep up the good work, Sheila! Give yourself, and John, a BIG HUG from us. And
make sure to go to our favorite food haunt and have a fried pickle!
    Love,
    Becky Jo (and the gang)

Thank you Becky Jo. Many of my readers, like yourself, are on the road a lot and they tell me they catch up while waiting in airports or hotels. I am glad I can be a traveling companion with many of my friends. Isn’t the web wonderful! If I can make you smile, keep informed, or even become angry then I have accomplished my purpose. I have apparently stepped on a few toes with a few of my comments but then controversey never hurt anyone if it makes us think. It is hearing from readers like you that keep me going. Much love to you and the gang and let me know when you can swing by for a few fried pickles.
